My pots-hot out of the wood fired kiln

Here’s a few pictures of my first batch of pots, I’m really pleased with them so far. I thought that having done it at college I would get right back in the saddle, so to speak, but that wasn’t the case, it was like starting all over again, but you can see the development from  the really thick wobbly ones, up to some nicer shapes. We had no time to spend on decoration, it was all a bit rushed and manic on the day, which has let them down a bit, and I wish I’d have done more dark blue glaze, but hey-ho, it’s all learning experience.

I also helped out loading the wood fired kiln, which took 2 days to load and then another whole day to fire, I was helping to pass logs to the girl loading them into the fire, and it was on that glorious day of sunshine we had, so really hot work. The kiln then took a few days to cool down, which is when the colours develop.

The next class isn’t until September, which is so frustrating so I’m keeping my eyes peeled to see if I can pick up a wheel, to keep the momentum going.
